This is a one day workshop for anyone with little to no experience of Watercolour.
Ideal for anyone who would like to join classes but hopes to gain some experience in the medium beforehand. Or for those who are unable to attend regular weekly classes but would like to try their hand at this medium, in order to participate in future, more advanced workshops.
We literally start the day with how to hold the brush, so that your confidence builds with each new project. Participants would be required to bring their own art materials from the kit list provided, eg a basic watercolour set, brush and palette, along with a packed lunch. I am able to supply 100% cotton watercolour paper, drawing boards, water pots, kitchen towel etc and a ready supply of refreshments and biscuits throughout the day.
You'll learn all the basics from how to apply flat and graduated washes, colour theory, colour mixing from a basic palette and tonal values. We cover a lot during the day and you'll leave with several completed paintings.
I was a bit apprehensive about going to the workshop as I have virtually no artistic talent and knew nothing about using water colours at all. I need not have worried Kirstie put me at my ease straight away and guided me through step by step, clearly explaining what to do and reassuring me. I learned so much that day and can't wait to have the time to put it into practice. I took home 4 water colours that I never imagined I could have done and my family were all seriously impressed with what I had achieved. I loved seeing Kirstie's gorgeous paintings in her studio Thank you so much Kirstie, an amazing & inspiring teacher & artist. Yes when I have had time to practice all I learned that day I will look forward to going to another of Kirstie's workshops.
This was a fun workshop which took you through the main ways in which watercolour paints can be used to build beautiful art. Kirstie is very talented and uses her own knowledge to impart techniques and enable you to leave the day with a portfolio of small pieces of work which illustrate the delicate nature of the medium.
Thoroughly recommended. . This was such an engaging day; a great group of people, clear development in the work and Kirsty was very generous with her help and support to everyone. I began the day as a complete novice but learnt so much that I felt inspired to continue with it at home and confident enough to enrol onto one of the intermediate classes..

Better still was being surrounded by your wonderful work - I still can't believe the black lab was painted... astonishing.
I've a mountain to climb but will definitely set myself up with a little plyboard workspace and crack on !
